I've selected
the one hundred and forty flags in this showcase for several
reasons. First and foremost, they are
among the most beautiful in the collection and
are some of my personal favorites.
Secondly, they span a wide span of American
flag-making history, from the early 19th century
nearly 200 years ago through
to the mid 20th century. Finally, each
possess certain traits that make them suitable
for teaching about flags and the various
construction techniques, materials, designs,
and degrees of rarity.
Click on each to learn more about the flag and
its history.
